Iraq Calls for American Business to Invest in the Education Sector

Erbil, (Rn) – The Iraqi Minister of Higher Education on the writer during his visit to Washington officials, major corporations and American business leaders to engage in investment in the higher education sector through the construction of universities and residential communities for teachers.
This came during a meeting held by the writer and his accompanying delegation with officials of major American investment companies and businessmen on the sidelines of the visit by the United States according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Education.
The statement quoted the Director of Information Qassim Mohammed Jabbar told the writer as saying that U.S. companies during the meeting that had a “great opportunity to engage strongly in the field of investment in higher education Iraq through projects developed at universities and processing as well as the implementation of projects to build residential complexes for teachers.”
Jabbar said that the writer “Display for U.S. companies to outline the Ministry’s strategy for the next four years, which include construction of a major university cities added to the existing educational institutions and the University’s 20 spread in all governorates of Iraq.”
The Ministry of Education during the year 2011 the foundation stone for eight new universities in the cities and districts of Iraq’s major universities, mostly specialized matching outputs need the Iraqi market.
The writer, according to director of media that “one of the universities which specialized ministry is working on the establishment, the University of oil and gas in the Governorate of Basra and Qurna Medical University in Najaf on behalf of the University of Jabir Ibn Hayyan and the university green in Babylon.”
He continued to add to the “pursuit of the ministry for the construction of teaching hospitals in every medical school in Iraq and equipping science laboratories for all disciplines.”

The delegation of senior Iraqi led by the writer began a visit to the United States to participate in the meetings of the Strategic Framework Agreement Iraqi-American, as well as participating in the Iraqi universities and the U.S. who will discuss the scholarship program the government and training opportunities and scholarships for Iraqi students and the conclusion of memoranda of twinning between the educational institutions of Iraq and the U.S..
