Iraq Is Allocated 700 Million Dinars for the Rehabilitation of the Church of Deliverance

Baghdad, (Rn) – The Ministry of Housing and Construction for the allocation of 700 million dinars for the reconstruction of the Church of Our Lady of Deliverance, which stormed by gunmen late last year, confirming a radical change to the design of the church.
Al Qaeda had entered the Church of Our Lady of Deliverance on October 31 last year and held a number of hostages, who were performing the Mass in the church in an accident that killed dozens.
The Minister of Housing and Construction Mohammed Darraji during his visit to the church “The Ministry of Housing and Construction Company FAO commissioned the rehabilitation and development of the Church of Our Lady of Deliverance.”
He explained that “The ministry has allocated 700 million Iraqi dinars for the development and restoration.” He also said that “the amounts allocated are not enough to bridge the rehabilitation process.”
“The ministry needs additional funds by 150 percent, because the supervisors of the Church called for a radical change in the designs of the church.”
The Iraqi Interior Ministry has announced that 52 people between civilians and security personnel were killed in the process of free hostages held by al Qaeda militants in the church.
